Next Generations
About Next Generations
What is the Next Generations Leadership Conference?
Each year, high school students from across Rotary District 7980 meet their peers at Next Generations to participate in dialogue-based workshops about topics and issues that are important to them. Workshop topics change annually based on student experiences and needs. The diverse backgrounds of the high school participants allow for a variety of perspectives to be shared on the selected topics. By attending Next Generations, students will make connections from across southern Connecticut, gain effective communication skills, and develop valuable understanding abilities that will better them as leaders in their clubs, schools, and communities.

Sponsor Responsibilities:
When a Next Generations candidate completes their online application, the sponsoring Rotary club or organization named in the application will be contacted. Some candidates apply without identifying their sponsor. The Next Generations Chairpersons attempt to identify a willing sponsor for these applicants.
STEP 1: Please confirm your choice to sponsor OR not to sponsor a candidate by directly replying to email notification ASAP. We suggest you interview your candidate(s) and get to know these leaders and their families; they are our future. If confirmed, they will also be representing you and your Rotary club/organization at Next Generations.
Candidates are not registered for the Next Generations conference until your confirmation email is received by the Next Generations Chairpersons. Your confirmation email is necessary to reserve a spot for the candidate within our participant limit.
There is no ‘allotted number’ of participants per sponsor. Therefore, your organization may sponsor as many participants as it chooses. Applications will not be accepted after the Friday one week prior to the conference start date.
Preparing Your Payment:
Sponsors pay $30 per confirmed participant. ALL PAYMENTS must be received PRIOR to the conference start date for the participant to attend. Per Rotary District 7980 Foundation rules, payments made after the conference are not permitted.
