Opus for Peace” – A Call to Action for Arts and Peace

Our Vision:
At the heart of this initiative is a powerful vision – to create an environment where dialogue, empathy, and artistic expression converge to heal divides, celebrate diversity, and build a more harmonious world. We believe in transforming the concept of peace from an abstract ideal into a tangible reality, fostering a culture of peace and reconciliation that extends far beyond our Rotary community.

Our Commitment:
Rotary Southern Connecticut is committed to elevating Peace as a central framework in our district. Our approach is to address the underlying causes of conflict, poverty, discrimination, social justice, and access, and understanding throughout the region and beyond. We aim to approach peace with cohesion and inclusivity, broadening the idea of peacebuilding engagement in all communities served.

The Role of Cultural Arts in Peacebuilding:
We recognize the profound impact that the arts have on peacebuilding. Therefore, we are reaching out to you, the vibrant cultural institutions of Connecticut, to join us in this endeavor. We believe that through your participation, we can enhance our ability to promote Positive Peace and Healing and elevate our voice and message to a wider audience.

Call to Action: 
We invite each cultural institution to embrace and program Peace into its artistic conversation. As part of this initiative, Rotary Southern Connecticut will put together an “Opus for Peace” media and public image campaign that will promote and connect all arts and peace-related programs with Rotary. And, through this inspire participation and a dialogue on peace that is so relevant today.
